Default Vodaphone - again

Hi everyone, feel a bit nervous at the moment (plus need spell checker) posting first thread.

Hope you can advise to see if I have a case re a default notice vodaphone has put on my credit rating for £13.00!!

Only found out last November that they had done this, basically having cancelled my 12month contract give one months notice then cancelled my direct debit didnt hear anything of them until April 22 2005 when received a letter from Westcot Credit saying i owed Vodaphone £13 which I then phoned and paid to Wescot by debit card on the same morning. After checking my credit report I was defaulted by Vodaphone then on the 26th April 2005 - some 4 days later.

When I spoke to Vodaphone in August last year they agreed that the £13.00 had been paid so that I didnt owe them anything, me being stupied though everything would be cleared but having checked again this month having been refused a loan noticed that only settled as been registed against my account with them.

I have emailed them but seem to be going round in circles they have just sent me an email to say the default will not be taken off. I dont no how they can do this I paid as soon as I got the correspondece by debit card - got bank details to prove - 4day before the default notice was applied.

Sorry feel like I have gone on abit - any advice appreciated, thanks.

Just received this email off them:

Thank you for contacting Vodafone Customer Service regarding your credit file.

I apologise for any inconvenience you feel may have been caused.

Please note that the outstanding amount of £13.66 was of February and March 2005.

Amount: £11.78 due date 28th February 2005.
Amount: £ 1.88 due date 24th March 2005.

I have reviewed your account details and confirm that you have cancelled the direct debit on 18th February 2005.

We received the payment of £13.66 on 22nd April 2005 by switch card.

If you wish you can call our collection team to discuss your credit rating.

Our collection team number is 08700 725 625 you can contact them between Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

So they have just confirmed I paid on 22nd April 2005 - so why default me on 26th April.

Any advice thanks.

I can confirm that it has been updated with the credit report with Equifax.

Well, they've really explained it. Do remember their 'default' and a court default (CCJ) are not the same thing. Their contract T&C do state what they do in the case of late/missed payments, and whilst it now shows that no debt exists (good!), their flag that it was passed to a DCA and will stay on your record for 6 years is a pain, but it's not thew end of the world - especially in isolation. I doubt anyone would refuse you because of a satisfied debt.
