Roxburghe DCA re Carphone Warehouse debt Last year I cancelled a contract with carphone warehouse, and due to them resetting up a direct debit that I had cancelled (yes, the bank let them do this as a, and I quote 'trusted company') they took £147 from my account, which I then duly recovered when I complained long enough and loud enough to my bank. I did owe the money but it was 1 week before xmas and I intended to pay it after.
Anyway earlier this year I received a letter from a DCA, credit services ltd about the £147. I telephoned them, paid half straight away and said I would pay the other half a month later. For other reasons we had the telephone number changed and I never heard anything from them again, no letters, nothing. I assumed they had made their profit on the £77 I paid and decided it wasnt worth pursuing the rest.
I have now received a letter from Roxburghe DCA about the same debt, but the amount has risen from just over £70 to £183. There is no mention of any charges added to the account, so I fail to see where the other £110 has come from.
It's the usual DCA letter full of lies about how they will send someone to collect the full amount if I don't pay within 7 days, etc etc.
I have sorted a letter with the requests for the original agreement, deed of assignment etc under the CCA, (and also added a few lines telling them I do not appreciate their threatening letters which are full of tripe), but after reading a few threads i'm not sure that it applies to mobile phone contracts.
Can anyone help me out, the letter is here ready to send but if the CCA doesn't apply I suppose i'll have to make them an offer to pay it monthly.
I'm not worried or intimidated by their letters, I just want to make things as difficult as possible for them, and find out why a debt of £70 has risen to over £180 with no explanation.
Thanks for any help
Rob
