| | Platinum Account Customer | Re: Phone bill dated August 2008. Firstly, call your bank and order a copy of the cheque with confirmation it was cashed and preferably details of the account it went into. Explain the issue to the bank and make sure you get it as soon as possible.
Once you've got that, photocopy it [always keep the originals!], the post office receipt and bill from BT.
Then draft a letter to the Post Office, post it here [minus the personal information], me or somebody else will try and help you by proofing it, then send it to;
The Directors Office,
Post Office Limited,
80-86 Old Street,
London,
EC1V 9NN
The letter should explain the situation and demand that the remaining £42 be paid to BT forthwith and compensation be paid to you, together with confirmation of the settlement of the account with BT.
Should they not do this, you will have no choice but to issue court proceedings against them in your local County Court for the £42 plus interest and court fees.
Keep us posted.
Good luck. |

On Thursday morning I contacted the Post Office Revenue Protection Branch, based in Chersterfield, and told them my sorry tale.
A young lady was very helpful with me. She took details of my wifes cheque, eg Acct number, cheque number and location of her bank.
Then I gave her the details of the original Post Office reciept with time and date of transaction, and ref. number of transaction.
She then went onto her PC, which had details of my wifes cheque and details of the transcation.
Then she examined the accts for the day in question of my local PO, and found there was a surplus of £40 in the PO's accts.
We walked upto our local PO as we got to the PO the phone rang, and the assistant was told to accept the new bill and accept no money for it, as it had already been paid into the PO main acct.
As a result the reminder phone bill was paid and a receipt obtained from the PO as payment rec'd
all well that ends well.
If you want details of the Post Office Revenue Protection office, I will post it for the viewers |

I did say to the people at Chesterfield, that once BT's ball starts rolling we could have been disconnected taken to court et al.
These sort of things have a momentum of thier own, and getting £40 back off a PLC is like asking me to work overtime.
This is the number. My betting is this number is so secret that the SAS look after it.
This is the key to the door of the Post Office if anyone has a problem with accounts and money, they can deal with it; Post Office Revenue Protection.
