Exclamation wanadoo broadband rip off

hi can anyone help, a couple of montha ago i signed up to wanadoo for broadband service 12 month contract.
i duly received the hardware and set about installing it ,only to get an error message asking me to contact their customer services no,this number is an 0990 number which charges at 50p per minuite.
i rang the customer care line and was on the phone for 20 minuites at the end of which despite beingtaken through several troubleshooting routines i still had no connection to broadband
ps :the 0990 number has a time limit of 20min so at the end of 20 min you are cut off problem solved or not !
still having the pro8blem i rang the 0990 number a further 4 times over the next few days only to be taken through more diagnostics to no avail.

i then rang 0990 number again explained id spent over£60.00 on phone calls and wasnt prepared to call again and wouldcancell the direct debit instruction as they clearly couldnt provide the service they were charging for.
i wrote to wanadoo explaining what had happened and returned their hardware.
i then received a letter from them saying by cancelling the d/d i was in breach of the contract and demanding the 12 months subscription

wanadoo has now been taken over by orange i have expliained the situation to them but am getting nowere.they are now demanding £29.00 subscription fee and over £130 for breaching the contract ANY ADVICE I AM LOATHED TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I HAVENT USED!

Not sure how much practical help I can be on this, but surely they have broken the contract by failing to deliver the service, so, speaking personally, I agree that you should not have to pay.

I suggest you read the contract through yourself, and when you find something stating what they will do to meet their part of the contract, write to them quoting it and stating that they have failed to meet their side of the deal. See how you get on, but obviously let us know if you need more help.

I would of left the DD active and then had a go at Wanadoo. By leaving the DD active they have no cause to claim breach of contract.
