Default Bt Cut Off My Broadband Line In Error, Need Advice

hi All , I run a small insurance /brokersbusiness and having broadband is vital to running of the office. Last month on the 25th my broadband went down, and after investigation found out BT had cut off my line, Their initial reason was that recent bill had not been paid, however after couple days of investigating it would seem that their was no outstanding bill and the disconnection was a error.BT then said that a engineer would have to come and sort out a new line and because it was a new connection they would have to charge me £160 and i would have to have a new 1 yr contract( cheeky *****) , they said i had no other choice. It gets worse because when they disconnected my line they disconnected my broadband tag with pipex , who are now saying that it would have redone and could take 14 days. This has meant thati have not been able to do any work for new and existing clients and hence no revenue. Do i have a case for sueing BT for compensation. Any thoughts welcome

Default Re: Bt Cut Off My Broadband Line In Error, Need Advice

You've not got down to the real reason for the problem. Lines that are restricted because of non-payment (as you believe) are not disabled immediately, many weeks/months can go by before the line physically disappears.

Many thnks can go wrong, your physical line can break down, your ADSL can similarly be lost whilst the phone line continues without diffculty, and finally Pipex can lose your tag and your BB stops.

You need to identify what the problem was, as I don't believe you're being told the true story. If oyu don;t pay BT for their line they can restrict the service but if that is NOT the case, then it's a fault, and they fix it at their cost, not yours!
