Default Orange - Downgraded Site North London

Hi!

A friend gave me this site, and told me that you wonderful people are here to help.

So here goes my story:

I'm having difficulties with Orange.

They have in the N16 area a downgraded site - they told me so many times - their reception coverage is terrible, about 85% of my calls are missed while getting the "missed calls" messages hours later, and making a call isn't much better' I can sometimes try to dial 20 times until I get through.

As a result I kindly asked to release me from the contract (I'm in the 2 month) based that they can not provide the service they should. Orange claims as long I can make call or receive any amount of calls, I'll have to buy out the contract.

Does that mean that for the next 10 months I'm stuck with this useless service?
To deal with CISAS also takes about 12 weeks.

They only other option left is to buy my contract under protest, but then how do I get the proof needed in court?

Not expert knowledge from me, but was it downgraded before you took the contract out and they didnt tell you or downgraded soon after. If before for instance (like me but vodaphone)they shouldnt have said you post code would get sattisfactory coverage, I got out of vodaphone terrible service, on these grounds through phones 4u and it was a dash between both vodaphone and 4u stores, one saying this one saying that. Eventually I got vodaphone to right down that the masts had been removed due to new house building and 4u had to refund.
Could you visit store directly and get confirmation in writing there is not problem with coverage and them ask customer services to query the differing information.

The issue is one of coverage (for you) but it of no real consequence due to coverage NOT being guaranteed and therefore not an excuse to repudiate the contract. After all, you're not going to be at your home address 100 of the time, and it most likely will work everywhere else.

Yes, I'm aware that's not the answer you wanted to hear - but I was in the same boat, going from 5 bars to 'No Service' after their base station was relocated when the original building was demolished.

When the contract is taken out, you've 14 days to sort out these issues. Where a BTS has been relocated AFTER this evaluation period, the service issue is taken on its merits and deals are sometimes agreed - put it in writing to Orange, don't argue with a CS rep, they may well know of the problem and agree an equitable solution.
