After having a guts full of Talk Talk's disgraceful customer service (20 mins+ on hold, incompetent cust services staff who can barely speak English, promises of call backs which never materialise, plus actually having the phone put down on me on a couple of occaisions) I decided a few weeks back to switch supplier (to Mercury).

I recieved my latest Talk Talk bill yesterday and for some reason a £108 charge for "Technical - Engineer" has been added to it??!

When I rang to dispute this I was told that BT charged Talk Talk this amount for transferring my phone line to my new address last month, therefore they are just passing the cost on to me.

I am utterly bemused??!! I had no warning of this charge (definitely not during any of my phone conversations), unless it appears somewhere in the smallest of small print.

Is it lawful??! I'm 99% certain I haven't signed anything. Is it related to the fact I am switching supplier??!

PS. If anyone is thinking of switching to Talk Talk I urge you NOT TO DO IT for the sake of your blood pressure!!!!

I dont see how they can charge you for something they had to pay! they wanted your business so they should pay it! its not your fault they arent competent enough to keep it! have a look trough the t&c's to see if theres any mention of these charges, it may be because you havent been with them for a certain amount of time! good luck
