Wink Nokia 6500 slide

Hi everyone.
I recently got a Nokia 6500 slide fro 3, it never worked, it had very little but mainly no signal, even ehen my wife was sat beside me with her sony ericson on 3 with full 'bars'?
I spent eight days and over Three hour one day on the phone to India and speaking to people reading the same reply from their screen, one day I was transfered to NINE different departments, I tried to cancel the contract and the same reply, 'you cannot do that' I contacted Consumer Direct who told me to write to their UK office and give them 14 days under the sale of goods act, 3 did not reply so as I sent it recorded delivery I checked royalmail and they got it next day, 3 denied it I then got another name and address in Glasgow and gave them 7 days, it took six and they allowed me to cancel the contract.
You see it seems (as I was told one time) their is a fault and Nokia cannot fix them, so beware!

Consumer Direct were wrong. Sale of Goods Act does not circumvent Contract Law, so whilst you can return your handset as unsuitable, it will not cancel your service contract unless the network specifically agrees.

As they did so, you're covered, but handsets are fickle things, two identical models can have different TX and RX sensitivities, meaning they look the same but the usage you get is anything but similar. For consumers taking out a NEW contract, they are in the strongest position (although returning by RD is NOT recommended, compensation for loss is only £34). Upgrades and or phone faults down the line are only dealt with by repair or refurbish replacements.
