Re: Nokia 6500 slide Consumer Direct were wrong. Sale of Goods Act does not circumvent Contract Law, so whilst you can return your handset as unsuitable, it will not cancel your service contract unless the network specifically agrees.
As they did so, you're covered, but handsets are fickle things, two identical models can have different TX and RX sensitivities, meaning they look the same but the usage you get is anything but similar. For consumers taking out a NEW contract, they are in the strongest position (although returning by RD is NOT recommended, compensation for loss is only £34). Upgrades and or phone faults down the line are only dealt with by repair or refurbish replacements.
