| | Basic Account Customer | Moorcroft/Orange hi all
can someone please help me
i have a contract with orange for a long time and i never missed a payment.
all was well until December 2006 when i got a phone call from a company called Docklands telecom asking me to renew my orange contract with them and they would give me an upgrade on my phone.
i asked how could they give me an upgrade on my phone as at the time i had a motoroler V3I which havd not long come onto the market.
they told me that they could and that it would be better than the phone that i had.
to cut a long story i agreed and they sent me a phone that i my eyes was a cheep toy.
i contacted them as soon as i could and they said that i was now tied into an 18 month contract.
so i contacted orange and complained, orange said the same thing and that there was nothing that they could do.
i told them that i had not signed any contract with docklands telecom nor with themselves for 18 months and they said that there was nothing that i could do as it was a verbul contract and that the only thing that i could do now was to pay for the 18 months.
so after a couple of months i rang orange and a asked the operator for orange how much was it that i owed them and would have to pay to terminat the contract.
they told me i would have to £655.33 to get out of the contract with orange.
so i asked if they could take payment right now, they agreed to take the full payment over the phone.
before i hungup i asked if there was any other charges that i owes to orange as i want no more to do with you.
they told me no you do not owe orange a single penny more thats it your contract has been termimated.
i said thank you and put the phone down, beleaving that that was it.
untill i recieved thretening letters from Moorcroft demanding payment for £56 that they say i owe to orange.
can some one please help me
kindest regards

| | Site Team | Re: Moorcroft/Orange Hi Tony Welcome to the site.
I will move your thread to the telecoms section where you will be best advised.
Seems you have not had the best of treatment here.
Dont have any dealings with Moorcroft by phone and keep things in writing. What is the alleged £56 for ?

A phone call to Orange may be able to solve this.
What I would also suggest you do is put all this down in writing to Orange. I'd ask them to explain where this extra £56 comes from.
I'd also state that on the basis of your conversation with Orange that no further money is owing, you consider the matter closed.
Send the letter recorded delivery and await developments.
As Moorcroft are a DCA you should write to them and say you are disputing the debt with Orange and as per OFT guidelines they should refer the matter back to them.

Things discussed or agreed on the phone do not stand up so remember-always get things in writing and keep it so with proof of delivery yourself.
