How do I cancel my o2 contract??
I have an 18 month contract with O2 that that ended back in January,
I still use t he phone/number but want to change companys

I think I need I need to write a letter giving 30 notice I'm not sure where to send it or exactly what to write..
Can anyone out there help???????

Hi there,

You need to ring O2 and ask them for a PAC code (Porting Authority Code). You can then give that to your new provider and they will take over your number which then means that O2 get the appropriate notice.

O2 will try to fudge the issue and try and get you to change to a PAYG account, but don't accept this if you don;t want it. Asking for a PAC code will automatically end your contract, HOWEVER the number MUST port to someone else, if it fails or you don't go ahead, your account will continue. Incidentally, porting can now take as little as TWO HOURS so be prepared to act when you get the number.

The PAC code must be used within 30 days of issue otherwise it will expire and the account remain active.

A port takes no more than 2 working days, following a recent ruling from Ofcom, and by next year 48 hours.
