Default virgin media new billing system.

Hi everyone,

I received my virgin media bill yesterday and I had to phone and query the amount. My original bill should only be about £85.00 per month but suddenly it went up to £110. This was a rise of £25.00.
When I phoned the customer services I was told because v.m. had changed their billing proceedures I was charged an extra £17.70 for the benefit of them. I was not very pleased as you can imagine and straight away the girl told me that they would take this amount off the bill.
So if any one else has this amount on their bill, query it and get them to take it off. I personally think that it is just v.m. way of getting more money out of us.

So what was the £17.70 for? Surely they aren't asking you to pay for their new billing system?

Hi Barracad,

What I gathered from the call centre was that v.m. had introduced a new billing service and for part of last month 13th June - 8th July I was getting charged for partial months service. Try and work it out because I couldn't. I think that my monthly bill is now from 9th July - 8th August? and conveniently for v.m. the telephonist could not look up my old bills to see the dates that I originally paid for.
I will have to try and find some of my old bills and check this, but I have only recently shredded all my old bills. It is amazing but before I started to claim back my charges I would have just thrown everything in the bin. I think that I have just got a wee bit paranoid with all the identity theft and such like. Though saying that if anyone managed to get credit in my name good luck to them.
Sorry I do tend to go on a bit.

p.s. sorry but have you seen the new billing system, you need to be a chartered accountant to work it out.

Ah, so they've changed the billing date, so you have been charged more this month but next month it will revert back to normal? I assume this month's bill came significantly later than usual?

Hi Barracad,

Just checked my last bill and it was dated 8th June and this new bill was dated 16th July so it was only 8 days later. I never thought to look at the billing date, these bills seem to come round that quick anyway I never noticed the new payment date.
I still don't see why they had to change the billing date anyway, I don't pay my bill by direct debit so they will still get paid when I can.

It's not a 'new' billing system, rather the implementation of TW's ICOMS system across the whole of the VM Group - so those being affected by the change will be those ex-NTL customers moving over to ICOMS.

There normally wouldn't be a change in billing dates, but because of the two systems being merged, they have to balance the load so that all the bills generated are spread evenly across the month, this will explain the part-month charges, but it should work out the same.

Like you, I don't trust them with a DD (their old system had a mind of its own) and even if my confidence rises in ICOMS and the bills are correct for the next 6 months, I'll still not agree to this and take the trouble to seek repayment of the non DD fees every 6 months.
