| | Basic Account Customer | krysus vs SLC Well, i've finally got round to starting the process to claim charges back off SLC - i've sent a S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) with the £10 fee (postal order) to them.
From checking on the Information Commissioners website, i've just realised that i've sent the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) to the wrong address - i used the Glasgow address, the Data Protection Register states a Bristol address. What will happen in this case? Would it be better to re-send SAR to the Bristol address? Or is it up to Glasgow to forward it on to Bristol?
Secondly, is the 40 days working days or calendar days?
Also, has anyone had successes with SLC charges?
EDIT: As my loans commenced prior to 2000, should i also ask for copies of the original agreement under CCA s77, and in the case that they can't provide them, claim back all i've paid?! Yeah, if only...!
Many thanks.

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: krysus vs SLC Ok, step 2.... CCA request!
As my student loans commenced prior to 1996, i'm requesting copies of CCA agreement...
As Smith Lawson are handling the arrears aspect of my loans, do i CCA them, or just Student Loans Co.? After all they are the same company, but do Smith Lawson have to correctly have a Deed of Assignment in order to collect the debt on behalf of Student Loans Co.?
Do i send it to the address as per Data Protection Register (in Bristol), or their head office address in Glasgow?
Ta.

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: krysus vs SLC LOL! Ok, here's your answer...
Yes i am paying, but after a recent phone call to Smith Lawson discovered that what i thought was my overall balance 12 months ago, was in fact just the arrears.
I made an arrangement with them last year, thinking that my monthly payments would clear both the arrears and loan balances by this month, only to find out today there is still £2k outstanding, of which about £300 is charges. |

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: krysus vs SLC The woman i spoke to at Smith Lawson today said that she'd send me statements anyway, mentioned to her that I'd sent a S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) but she didn't take any notice, and just carried on trying to justify what she believes i would have been told 12 months ago.
Only got 8 payments to go, i suppose claiming that charges - i expect they'll be more than she said though - will reduce it by at least one payment.
Still doesn't make me feel any better that i've still got £2k outstanding when i thought it would be zero by now!!
Thanks noomill, i'll keep this thread updated - glad to know someone has beat them already |
