NHS Bursary Repayment problem

Hi all,

I'm a student nurse currently intercalated for up to six months from May 19th.

Today I received a letter from NHS Business Services Authority advising me that I have been overpaid by £1030.23 and am required to pay this back "please can you forward a cheque by return post"

Unsurprisingly I don't have £1030 burning a hole in my pocket, being overdrawn already and all.. but we are contractually bound to refund any overpayments.

So anyone had this situation come up? How did you deal with it? What's your advice? Apparently I need to contact the Finace Office to arrange a payment plan -but of course they're closed at the moment. Anyone know how realistic the finance office's repayment plans are?

Firstly don't telephone these people, all communication should be in writing, what you need from them is an explanation as to how did this over payment occurred, ask for a copy of their complaints procedure.
Are you a student member of either the RCN or Unision if you are thats good news as I am sure they will help.
Contact your local MP, ask that they look in to it for you.
