Told I was ineligible for a student loan for 2008/9

I have been told I am ineligible for a 2008/9 loan because of a bad credit check and/or 3 months arrears for a 2000 loan caused by the deferment form getting lost in the post.

Does anyone know if the SLC refuses student financial aid because of bad credit? Or if it is for the 3 months arrears with them, can one become eligible again if they pay off those arrears?

It wouldn't be anything to do with a poor credit rating as they don't do a credit check for Student Loans. It will be to do with an outstanding loan that's in arrears however. You would need to arrange some form of repayment, or if your eligible to defer, set up a deferment.
