Default Student Loans Company.... CCI Legal
Hi,

I've been living out of the UK since I left University in 1996. I believed that I had no further debts to repay SLC or any other body.

I've just received a letter from CCI Legal (debt collectors) suggesting, in no uncertain terms, that I owe the SLC over GBP 4,000, of which as mentioned earlier I have no knowledge!

Having vewed a few threads on this forum it seems that there is a set course of action to be taken in the form of sending letters requesting information and once received or not as the case may be following up to clear the matter up.

Am I correct in thinking that I have to send a Subject Access Request to CCI Legal as my first port of call? and then follow up with a letter regarding the Consumer Credit Act of 1974?

I have had no communication whatsoever with the SLC or any other body regarding this matter to date.
Please can someone direct me as to my first actions regarding this matter.

Your advice will be gratefully received.

Who should I make a cheque or postal order for the one pound payable to if it is a debt collection agency chasing me and not the SLC???
please help.. time is running out.
