Would hubby be entitled to DLA / Mobility?

Hello All

My hubby has a proplem called ACM (Arnold Chiari Malformation) and Syringomyeila and I was wondering if he would be able to claim DLA or Mobility. He currently gets long term Incapacity Benefit.

He has had surgery to make the opening in the base of his skull bigger (De-compression) but it didn't work properly and may have to have more surgery. It also has affected his right arm and he now has nerve damage in it (he can't feel hot things and cold really hurts).

He is unsure of claiming as he thinks he will be turned down by them.

Any help will be great.

He has nothing to lose by putting in a claim, but must remember that all claims are assessed on the help he needs from another person and not the seriousness of his condition(s). If he answers all questions with this in mind, then he stands a greater chance of success.

Most claims are turned down in the first instance, so be prepared to appeal everything.... If it takes months and he's successful however, then all payments will be backdated to the date the claim was made.

Thanks for your quick reply. Will tell him that others agree with me and he should just try for it. They can only say no lol.
