Heh, this is a really, really long shot, but I'm trying to find a book that I read years and years ago - I must have been about eight - about a family learning to cope when they found out that their child was autistic. It was a slim biography (a normal publication, not a children's book), and I only remember one thing about it. The child in question had a problem with the colour red - buses, Smarties, red crayons, all used to set him off. The parents acclimatised (desentitised?) the child to red by playing games with a big sheet dyed that colour.
I know, I know, I'm as bad as the book-shop customers I used to serve. Usually I remember all the books that I've read, but this was a long while ago and I'm honestly stumped. |
