Motability - anybody tried haggling?

The motor trade would have us believe that they are doing us a favour by allowing us to spend the mobility allowance on one of their cars. However, a look at the figures would suggest that they do very nicely out of the deal.

I always insist that they supply euro-plates, and one year I got them to throw in floor mats, but has anyone else had any success in negotiating a good deal on a new contract hire motability car?

Hi - First Post.
I took a motabiity car for which the initial payment was £50. The very nice people at Vauxhall waived that fee for me. I was very happy

2 Weeks later I was involved in a RTA and the insurance company wrote off the 2 week old vehicle so I had to start again and order a new car.

However the initial payment had now risen to £150. Guess what? The very nice people at Vauxhall waived that too!

It may be that this was my third car from my local dealership and I'm always polite and thankful when I go in for services (even pop into the showroom to say hi to the motabiity rep) but in my experience if you don't ask, you'l never know.

Oh and by the way, whilst claiming on the accident, both Motability AND RSA were both brilliant, so if you're reading this guys - Thank You.
