Talking adams v smile

Right i have the bug now - I have printed of the Data Protection Act letter for my statemenst - i have a fair bit to claimas it tots up to £400 + for the years statemenst I can see. Lets hope i am one of the lucky ones.

Good luck to everyone out there - I will now check my credit card charges whilst I still hve to fever!!!

So I put smile on hold for a while whilst I hit th HSBC - they have now paid up and not closed my account so time to hit on smile - I have secure messeged them asking for my statements and the messaged back saying that it can be done in a subject access request?? I have to email back if this is ok......errrm is it???? Please help.

If you have done this before then you should know the process. Frankly smile have not been very good at answering emails, so I believe that snail mail is better. Of course they will want £10 for the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) as well. I did things by email with them and wished I hadn't. Go back to the FAQ's and I am sure it will all come flooding back.

They just confused me coming back and asking me that when I had already asked them if you now what I mean!! I have asked them to debit my account with the £10. i find their secure message bit slow so might go back to letter form when I send the prelim off.

So I got a letter the other day saying I should have may statemenst by 5th October - that is way off 40 days??? Can I do anything or just wait?

they have to provide your information within 40 days if they dont report them to the Information Commissioners Office. After 40 days you can take the legal route to force comliance.
