Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hello everyone,
i am new to this and i hope i started this thread right.
I too have been "punished" no end of times by Cahoot. But luckily i found this website a couple weeks ago,and had a good read through everything.I must say it is very addictive!
Anyway, long story short,i asked by secure message for all my charges over the last 6 years, and after not hearing anything from them i sent the DPA letter out of your Library to cahoot.Typically....same day i sent the letter i finally received an email with the details about my charges.
Now.....my question....do i wait for a reply to my letter now?Or can i go on to step 2 now,as the charges in the email reply seemed to be alright.
I still bank with cahoot, have a credit card and a flexible loan with them. Can they close all of them because of my claim? That is what mostly worries me,as i can't afford to pay it all back in one go if they ask me to.
I would continue with the claim as you now have your information.
I don't think they are closing loans or credit cards although they may close your account so take out a parachute account (search for parachute on the forum and you'll see some threads containing recommendations).
Thanks,
that is exactly what i liked to hear.
Thanks for advice on parachute account, done that already last week after reading all those other threads.
My prelim letter will go out in the morning by recorded delivery.
Somehow it still seems to be too good to be true that we at last get back what we are owed.
And somehow i am worried or got the funny feeling that my case will end up in court. But probably i'm just being silly and everyone here has got the same feeling.
While it's highly unlikely your case will go to court it is worth being prepared for it to happen just in case.
A lot of banks wait until the last minute before refunding. Follow the timetable to the letter and don't back down, and you'll be fine.

thank you for the encouragement.I won't back down, after all it's MY money they messed about with.
And i have to admit.....i'm kinda stubborn
Sorry to ask so many questions..........but i have one more.
The overdraft interest........which one do i take,as i have 2 different ones on my statement.
Also...on my credit card with cahoot it shows only my normal interest you have to pay on any card.I don't claim that back,do i?
Sorry,2 questions not one
Help Please
Could anyone tell me if it's better to send the prelim letter by recorded post or is it alright to send it by email???
I want to do everything right and am not quite sure which is the safest and maybe quickest qay to get a response.
You can't claim interest on the credit card, only late payment and over limit charges.
If you send the prelim letter by recorded delivery, you can at least be sure they receive it. But some people are using email without problem, so it's up to you.

Just a quick question once again.
How long does it take in average for cahoot to reply and to settle the whole thing?I am just a bit worried, coz i am going on hols on the 5th August. What if it ends up in court or i get an important letter while i'm gone.I probably just worry too much.:-|
Decided not to send my prelim letter now til next week.I am overdrawn at the moment due to their latest charges, and i'm a bit worried that they want me to pay up once i sent my request in.
I am also preparing my DPA letters for Littlewoods.....Style.... .Egg card and Capital One.
Will put them all in a relevant thread once i sent them.
still waiting for a reply to my DPA request.
I was gonna send the prelim letter in after i received email with charges, but thought,i might aswell wait til i get the statements.
I can't help but not trust them.
Or is it advisdable to send the prelim and then adjust the amounts at a later stage once i get my statements ??
I'd send it now if you can estimate the charges. They'll soon provide the information if it comes to court stage and you've overestimated.

thanks, will send it in the morning by recorded delivery.Just found out,by looking at my online statement, that there has been 2 more charges put on.
It's about time this nightmare ends.
ps:not worried about overestimating, more like underestimating.
Received 21 pages with printouts regarding my accounts with Cahoot.
I'm rather confused,as i have no end of blank spaces, where money has been taken out my account, but no description what is was for.
I know for sure one of those was a charge, but all the others?????
Has anyone else had this?
