Default Best Way To Quit Orange..?

    Hi Everyone.

My missus has been on a 12 month contact with orangeicon through OneStopPhoneShop that has about 6 weeks to run, it's been a pretty shoddy deal and has run expensive so we want to get out as soon as possible.

What is the best way to finish the contract? Post or phone?
Has anyone got any good 'end-of-contract' letters?

    Many Thanks

    Chris.

Just a thought but as there is only 6 weeks left to go would it not be worth sticking with it until the end of July.

I would think that if you leave now you will incur some form of penalty fee so it may be just as well to stick it out.

    Hi,

Yes, sorry, I plan to stick to the agreement (finishes 2nd Aug), but want to give orangeicon plenty of notice so that it doesn't run a day over what it should do. I want to make sure they don't keep charging me after 2nd Aug.

    Thanks

    Chris.

Two ways out depending on if you want to keep your number or not

    Option 1- not keeping number:

When 30 days is left to go send orangeicon a letter recorded delivery stating you wish to cancel. Phone will be cancelled 30 days after receipt of letter.

    Option 2- keep your number:

Call CS on 150 and request a PAC code. I think orange tend to issue these in writing but not sure. Once you get a PAC code go to your new network and give them the code and your orange number. Number will port over 7 days from when the code was given to the new network. Orange will close account and send a final bill for line rental remaining and calls. NOTE: Once you request a PAC code that counts as you giving 30 days notice which you are required to by contract. If you use the PAC code straight away you will port out with 23 days left on your notice period and orange will bill you the line rental due for those 23 days. The way to avoid this charge is to use the PAC code with 7 days left in which case there will be no cancellation fee to pay. Either way if you get your dates right you would be paying up to 2nd Aug

Forget the 30 days, give then 45 days notice, this means they will catch the final billing date (which you miss if you give them 30 days), so that your contract ends on the anniversary of the billing date, as this saves messy part-month calculations!
