Government Wimps Out:
After the "Payusback" campaign the Government has finally responded. Whilst they do not appear to come down on the side of the banks, the following indicates their "sit on the fence" approach:The full response (for what it is worth) can be found here.It would not be appropriate for Government to influence the outcome of an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading, which is an independent body. However, the Government strongly supports the principles of fairness and transparency which the OFT is applying.
