Default Tesco CC - Not Reissuing Card

    Hi All,

Just after a bit advice please.

Received a letter from Tesco Finance advising they will not reissue card on expiry at the end of this month "based upon recent payment activity." I should also not use the account with immediate effect.

OK, I had missed a few payments & once went over limit but sorted everything out around August last year.

I rang them yesterday and was advised basically because of the "recent" activity that they would not re-issue. Explained situation & was advised that there was also a late payment in Jan - credited 3/1/07 - due 30/12. OK agree it was late but banking systems over BH !!!

I then stated that is this due to recovering charges last Sept, but was advised this had nothing to do with their decision (a bit cynical here ).

I will write to them but just wondering if this has happened to anyone recently, is it a new tactic etc.

They have not actually closed the account, they have "kindly" allowed me to spread repayments over a period of time albeit including accrued interesticon.

Bit of a strange one but any ideas please.

They are trying to say that they are" responsible lenders " When you say this was due to recovering charges. Could you elaborate a little please?

Its your money taken unlawfully from your account and you have a legal right to claim it back.

    Certainly,

I only had £265 of penalty charges which were refunded in full after I replied to their first offer of £50. Literrally I refused the initial offer then within about a week, full amount credited to my account.

This was last September--- I guess they do have long memories.

Ahh, I had the same letter after I requested info I phoned and was told the same thing! ... I was annoyed at first but then thought well, what the heck if I need a card I will try elsewhere - wonder if I was a little nieve with hindsight! Incidently I'm going to be claiming from them shortly for charges!

    Hey Crazy Chick,

I use the card for expenses etc & there is a fair bit of monthly ins & outs on the card. I'm wondering whether Tesco does not like the amount of points per month on it & because of previous misdemeanors ?? is that one of the reasons. I do use it more as a company card rather than personal. Perhaps that is an excuse that they are giving.

I do suspect it is a Tesco decision rather than RBSicon.
