Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Even though there is no contract, you still have to give them 30 days notice
of cancellation and return their viewing card.
Unless a Minimum Subscription Period applies (see Clause 3.2.2 below) or as otherwise set out in this Agreement, you may terminate this Agreement at any time by giving us at least 30 days' advance written notice by email or post to the addresses set out in Clause 10. If you do terminate this Agreement, as soon as your Viewing Card has been returned to us or to a third party that we will appoint (where requested by us), we will refund any part of the Fees you have paid in advance for the Service for the period after this Agreement has ended.
I used to have topuptv, and when I was moving away, I cancelled the DD, but then never got around to telling them I was leaving, but the only contact I have ever had is endless emails at least once a month begging me to come back.
But generally with these things, it does seem to be the done thing to give 30 days notice, But if you kick up a fuss/write nasty legal sounding letters they will probably give up - Imagine the Judges face when he has to face a defended claim for £7.99, his wig will probably fly off in anger
Yeah, got to agree in retrospect. Suppose i've got bigger fish to fry. Just gonna pay them the 8 lousy quid to get them to go away then.
Just a quick background though... Joined in April 2005, got 14 decent stations for £7.99/mo but 1 by 1 this year they've pulled them favouring their new service for which you have to buy a new box, first it was £180 then it was £120, then it was £99 and last week they 'phoned me and offered it to me for £45! And, it's £9.99/mo. Talk about desperation or what!! And now all i'm left with for £7.99/mo is 8 hours of UKTV Gold a day! Not having any contract or other paperwork from them I just cancelled the DD and their response was amazing, a stinging letter from Scotland which took a day to get here threatening this that and everything! Won't be using again!

The, "new", TUTV Anytime box is what they're trying to force on subscribers! Original TUTV subscribers have had access cut down to a few hours a night of UKTV Gold for £7.99/mo
You can get a FV box on our flea market for a tenner!

Your comments and legal arguments are duly noted.
Yeah, I don't want the service anymore and i'm not paying you

I can confirm that as a matter of goodwill and as a customer relations exercise that your account is now closed and that there is no outstanding balance owed to ourselves.
Furthermore, where you may have previously been instructed to return the viewing card to us as a property requirement, I would ask that you destroy the viewing card in a manner that you deem fit.
Should you not be happy with this response, I can confirm that this is our final response on this matter, and enclose the F.O.S. leaflet should you wish to make a further complaint.
Yours faithfully, TopUpTV.
