Default Offer letter from Alliance and Leicester - help please

    Hi

I have had an unsual letter from Alliance and Leicester offering me £143 instead of £814 becasue they basically believe a charge of £12 is fair. Even if that was correct which I know is not the case I should still be entitled to a refund of £440.

Do I need to write to them and refuse the offer (no way am I accepting that) or just carry on as planned? In the letter they sent me there is something for me to sign accepting it as Full and finalicon offer. Am due to file MCOL next friday.

Also thought this might make soome people laugh. It states

You may have seen media reports that some banks are closing certain customers bank accounts where a customer has complained. We would reassure you this is not our policy and if you do accpet our offer we will continue to operate your account.

Just thought that made interesting reading considering from what i have read on here they are ones that always close accounts. Not that any of it applys to us as our account with them is already closed.

    Many thanks
    Emma

Dont worry had exact same letter weeks ago, sent letter declining their offer and filed with MCOL on 10th April. There are links on this site for templates for decliningoffers. Make sure you have another account ready to change all your details over to just incase.

Let me know when you've filed

    hiya

I have had an offer which was for the diff between charge and £12 - it did not seem correct the figure that is. I queried this with them and they said they are only refunding difference on unpaid item charges - cheques and dd payments. they said will not refund on £25 unauthorised o/d charge and £25 paid item charge! I said moving goal posts constantly as they have previously refunded others with all charges. Solicitors said they will not consider the £25.00 charges.

Ring this number and ask them and see what they say no is 0116 200 3504

its the group legal services. It is the solicitors dealing with this that told me about the other two charges being non refundable.

If you are refusing this there is a template letter for sending the cheque back
