Default Broken Yellow Lines and PCN

I *know* I have seen this somewhere but can't find it!

OK, been booked for parking on a single yellow during restricted hours. Fair play, I did. The pcnicon is perfectly valid with wording etc so can't do them on that!

BUT - this yellow line, which runs for about 150m, has no less than 11 breaks in the line. Some where it has been removed for dropped kerbs, others where it has faded away so badly there is nothing there. The council are supposed to be removing the line anyway but as yet, haven't done.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the legislation about yellow lines? Oh, and incidentally, where it goes from a single to a double, it is on a drop kerb so no T bars.

    Thanks

Because by s.64(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 traffic signs shall be of the size, colour and type prescribed by regulation, if a sign the contravention of which is an offence contrary to s.36 is not as prescribed by the regulation, no offence is committed if the sign is contravened, even if the sign is clearly recognisable to a reasonable man as a sign of that kind.

Get a copy of the TRO, for that road, I'll bet it doesn't mirror the lines on the ground if it doesn't the lines are non compliant.
