    Cool 3 Billing Problems

I renewed by contract with 3 in December 2006 ( contract was up for renewal in Feb07) and received a new handset. My 1st bill after this had internet charges of £60. I called 3 customer services and complained that my internet browsing had not altered throught the previous year but suddenly a whopping charge arrived. I always browsed through Plant3 which is supposed to be free.

They said the charges were correct but could not tell me what sites I had visited to incur such charges as it is not their policy, I have wriiten several times now but all I get told is that the charges are correct and there is nothing I can do about it but pay up ( which i have no intention of doing).

I told then where they could stick their contract as I no longer trusted their services but they just told me to pay up £250 to get out of the contract and handed my details over to their debt collecting agency.

They had the cheek to say I should be careful of who I let use my phone as someone else could have run up the charges without me knowing!

    Can anyone help/advise?????

You are right not to trust them!!! I had a big problem with 3 involving them making unwanted marketing calls to the other half and then denying it even though when I called back using the number they called from they denyed it was theres, must be something to do with the long distance oversease telephone exchange!!!!!!!

Anyway that is all resolved now and as a result got to cancel the OH's contract and effectivly broke my 18mth contract 6 months early and started a new one with a new handset - no problems since - touch wood!!!

Basically don't bother with Customer Services, write direct to Bob Fuller the CEO (address at the bottom) and within a few weeks I got a call from 3 Executive Office in Glasgow or Edinburgh and negotiated a suitable arrangement with them.

Anyway enough of my babbling here's the address - its definatly worth a try - good luck

Thanks for the advice. It's funny that they will not accept that they could be in the wrong. I'm only refusing to pay because I disagree with the charges and I challenged them to prove which sites I am supposed to have visited but they say they cannot so how am I supposed to believe theire charges are correct. Its pay up and shut up with 3 !!!

Thumbs down Re: 3 Billing Problems

Just had a letter from DLC demanding money or they'll start legal action or send "the Boys" round. Wrote to the NEW CEO and 3, still no reply after a week

Writing to the CEO - as you probably know - doesn't do much as it's intercepted and dealt with by minions to let him concentrate on the bigger issues. They take at LEAST 21 days before it goes through the system. If you're really unlucky, it gets scanned into your account and someone in Bombay tries to phone you without reading it first.

Thought as much, just going through the motions to show them I'm not just ignoring their letters and want an end to the problem.

    cheers anyway...

I'll see what happens.. I rang DLC who seemed shocked when they asked for my credit/debit card details and I told them I wasn't paying. I explained the situation and although they can't do anything at least the call is registered as me acknowledging their correspondence... or I hope it is !!

How long did you think the half-price line rental deal lasted for? 6 months is the inducement, and it is standard price for the remainder. Seems a bit harsh to complain when they've kept their side of the bargain!

Your dealer may have (did you get it in writing?) but 3UK have never offered this as part of a standard tariff - which is why it has reverted after the end of the promotion period. As far as I'm aware 3UK have never offered a discount like this for the duration, sometimes if forms part of a dealer cashback scheme which has nothing to do with the network, so you may have problems unless you can prove this was the deal in writing.
