Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I bought a 52 plate pug 206 from an independant dealer back in sept, it was financed through Black Horse. When i test drove it i told the salesman that the exhaust was blowing and he agreed to get it looked at, but said if i signed the documents and drove the car away he would book it in to his mechanic to get the exhaust delt with, so i went along with this plan. I picked the car up on the Thursday and by the sat the exhaust had completely come apart and i could not drive the car. They took the car in on the Monday and put a new exhaust on. This exhaust lasted about a week, before it started blowing, i took it back and their mechanic plastered it in exhaust putty and seemed to think this fixed it!
Of course within a few weeks it had blown the exhaust putty off and they eventually put a new exhaust on which again was incorrect and they put on another. I said i was not happy with this last exhaust as it was noisy and to me sounded as if it would start to blow, i spoke to Black Horse who told me to take it to an independant exhaust specialist, which i did, not realising this was the same exhaust company that my dealer used. They told me there was nothing wrong with this exhaust. This exhaust was fitted in November, now the exhaust mounts have broken away leaving 2 big holes in the back box and causing the exhaust to split at the joints. I have once again phoned Blackhorse and they have told me to take it to QuickFit this time.
Thing is i think 4 exhausts in 8 months is excessive and i feel i have given them ample opportunity to fix the car, i have told them they now need to take it to Peugeot, they dont wish too. Where do i stand on handing the car back and would i get any money back? Black horse actuall yhave had the front to send me a default notice made up of over £100 worth of charges, because i have refused to pay until the car is fixed. I cant keep taking time out of work to get the car fixed, i bought it because i thought it would be reliable. Any suggestions?
