Thread: CCJ for debt to college. I never went to college!!!!

Hi people,
I dont know if this should be in the student bit, but as i wasnt a student, its here.
If a mod thinks it should be then feel free to move it.
Anyway, after checking my credit file i was shocked to see a CCJ with no case number on it.
i called the court who told me it was my local college and said i had to contact them regarding the fact i dont owe them anything because i was never at college, never even applied for college.
so i foned the college, who checked for application. found none, and the only 'record' they have of me is on a class register, no grant, no loan no signature.
the receptionist told me to appeal to the finance manager in the college.

Question is: Do i demand that the CCJ be removed immediately. as i have never owed them anything. Does the court have anything to do with this or is it a case of argue with the college until they admit their mistake?

Sorry, my mistake, When i said CCJ i actually meant a sherrif court judgment. Im in Scotland. Where it seems our laws like to make things a bit harder.

Hmm, I'm not sure on this but you might need "recall of decree" as in National Debtline Scotland | Debt Advice | Factsheet 07 Recall Of Decree

A Minute of Recall will cost you - better to get the College (who made the mess) resolve the issue at their expense.
