Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I think it would be a good idea to put a sticky in each bank forum detailing the charges and fees that can be claimed back from their particular bank. So many people don't know which ones they can claim and this would make it easily accessable to them, instead of trawling through other people's threads that may or may not have been answered correctly.

I still think it would be easier if there were a list in each banks forum as each bank describes their charges differently.
And not everybody reads the faq's! (tut tut)
It would be very easily accessable and relevant to each bank.
Also, personally I forget where it is that I've seen something, and when it's as important as this, it should be in a more obvious place IMO. It would stop all the clutter of threads asking the same questions.

Thanks Michael for puting that together. Most common one I've found to be misunderstood is maintenance fee, which of course you can claim back because its a fee for the bank sitting on their backside doing hee haw.
Thats fantastic Michael. If i see anyone asking what they can claim, I'll just link to your post.

The list that michael has posted is great - but when I was querying some charges I went to FAQ and step by step and could not find the "paid item charge"
I have claimed this but have received differing comments as apparently A&L definitely consider this to be a service (bit dangerous as do they mean the other charges are not?) and have been deducting these from offers.
Also a little question - i know there is a running total about finished claims - but would it be too difficult to run a litte chart/graph by each bank forum with details of current cases in court system and cases won each month (numbers not £)
I do try checking the successful claims section but as people add lots of coments after each win you cant see when they actually won or at what stage.
Probably too much work I know but just feel it would be useful and give encouragement
Maybe if people could see this it would encourage them to give you all the details.
Is the updated list (thanks Me01273) - just click the bank that you want and the list of claimable charges should be listed at the top, along with contact info etc...

Hi have a business account with HSBC & was wondering does any one know if you can claim for "Charge, arrangement fee" this is a charge added to the account for when the overdraft has been increased at my request. Sometimes this charge can be over £100...
If you have actually been to request the od increase at your bank, they should have told you the charge and it's not reclaimable.
On the other hand, if they have just increased it to cover a DD or S/O etc and you didnt request it, then I would claim it.
Check out the link in the post above yours.

This is such a valuable resource but can the decriptions for charges be updated to take into account the new terminology on statements.
Thanks.

Keep up the fight against Bank Charges
and sign this petition.
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
