original computer programme £3000
i worked out very roughly with my computer programmer friend, and we both agree the cost is negligable now as the programme would have been in use for several years and with the exception of security updates and variable updates (as in how much they let you overdraw, cos sometimes it clears and sometimes it dont) there is nothing else needed to be done, the computer does it all. So lets add 10p per user for generosities sake.

clerk 30p To feed the cheque into the machine (worked out at £6 an hour)
letter to tell u its bounced : broken down as follows
ink 30p
paper 3p
envelope 3p
postage 30p
mailroom clerk 30p someone needs to post the letter(worked out at £6 an hour)

So i get the grand total to........ a whopping £1.36 to bounce a cheque, anyone else have more insight into banking systems know of any process i missed, lets have a laugh and see what we can come up with
