so far ive compiled my list of charges and written to the bank (Halifax) twice, the 2nd time they actually responded, negative response but a response none the less, so now im about to send them a 3rd letter warning of court action <eeek> hoping to have some good news to report in the coming future, just need to sort out my parachute account now...

Hi Sarah and welcome. I had similar experiences with Nationwide and it took two letters from me to get a reply too; negative of course. Take heart! I immediately sent a third informing them time was almost out and I was preparing for the next stage. Hey Presto!! I finally got what I had asked for. And I was only asking for the full list of charges that I was legally obliged to receive. Good Luck. P.S. Nationwide: Proud to be different.
