Default Garage has done work without permission!!!!!!

Hi guys, this is my first time and i'm hoping someone can advise!

i took my ford puma into a garage on sat to get it MOT'd. I came back an hour later, and the guy said my emissions test had failed..fair enough. He said it would cost £40 odd pounds to plug it into some computer to work out whats wrong. I havent got a clue about cars or technical stuff, so didnt really understand.

anyway he said he'll have a look if he had time or on monday, to let me know whats wrong with it. He also told me the garage was shutting at 2, 2'oclock comes round i dont hear anything, assuming he will look at it on Monday, i get a phone callicon at 3.30 for him to say that the car was now fixed and that i now owe !40 odd quid inc the comp test. I didnt ask him to do the work and now i have to cough up this, and if i dont pay i dont get my car back!!!

Where do i stand on this, because i feel like he's just takin me for a mug, as i'm girl and wouldnt know any better. Any advice on this would be great!

40 odd quid total? Very cheap for an MOT with any work done. Sounds to me as if you did give him implied permission...

Sorry meant £140!! Have picked it up this morning, checked the glove compartment as i knew my wheel locking nuts have gone and no where else in the car. Have phoned the garage who said that they wouldnt have needed them for the MOT, but a colleague has just told me that they would have to take the tyres off to check the brakes?

I'm awaiting phone callicon to find out where the hell they are!!!

An MOT tester should not remove any part of a vehicle for the test - including wheels.

I'd give VOSA a ring to confirm.

    Hi Guys,
i'm know even more angry, they're saying they havent touched them and basically implied that i'm a liar. Where do i now stand on this and what can be done? Who can i write too? I know that these wheel locking nuts were left in the glove compartment and have never removed them since i've had the car!!
