Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi,
I have only posted once before, but reading through the various threads I decided to take action against the Woolwich. I initially sent the prelim letter in January and received the bog standard replies; please give us more time to investigate; needs to go to Head Office etc, etc. I then sent them the further letter threatening court action.
I finally received a letter yesterday morning with Barclays (Woolwich) accepting "no admission of liability but offering me £1200 in Full and final settlement":o (My initial debt was £892). So I'm more than happy with the outcome and thought I would share with all you CAG'ers!!!!
On to Nationwide now, £675 to ghet back from them........
Result! Congratulations, you got your interest and some costs without even asking for them. Out of interest, how long did you wait between sending the prelim letter and the lba? Was it the 14 days?
Hi
Actually it was a bit longer (my fault as I wasn't organised!!), I sent the prelim on 15th Jan and the lba 23rd Feb. They then told me that they would get back to me on or around 28th March. I received a further letter after that saying that it was "still under investigation & to bear with us.." and they would get a response to me asap. The next letter I received was the offer yesterday.
If I had been more forceful and followd the procedures and timescales layed down on this site I MAY have got more out of them. But, I'm more than happy with the offer they have made.
Good luck in getting yours back!
