Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I'm sure there are many of you dealing with Nat West - I'd really like to compare notes.
I'm a complete beginner with all of this so please help me out if I have posted this in the wrong place or anything.
I have been with this bank about a year - not sure how much I've been charged in the past - it won't be much as I tend not to overdraw, however this month was different.
5 very small DDs came out of my account a day earlier than expected which left me £32.00 overdrawn - I noticed and immediately contacted the bank to ask for some support as my salary was due into the same account at midnight that evening. They flatly refused and promptly slammed £190.00 charges onto my account.
Now, I'm normally fairly patient and laid back, but this really made me mad.
I have written a nice letter to them asking to reconsider their decision (you never know - it could have been one awkward member of staff) - I expect I will receive the same response however.
I will keep you posted as to my progress, because there is no way that I am paying them £190 for something probably cost approximately a tenner.
I know I have a lot of reading up and preparation to do for this so I'll be making a start on it tomorrow.
Has anyone been successful with claiming unfair charges back from Natwest?
Hi Paula, welcome on board the nat west forum!! If you're looking to reclaim charges from nat west, you've deffo come to the right place!!!
If you don't hear anything from your letter to nat west (I wouldn't be surprised if you don't by the way!!!) you need to send them the preliminary letter which formally requests the charges to be refunded.
And don't worry, you will get your charges back - it just may take a little time and you have to be prepared to go to court to get them back. But you will get them back in the end!!!
The only reason I'm on this forum is because people responded so positively to my own questions in the first place! Go get your money back - it was taken from you unlawfully, and now it's time to put in back in your own pocket where it should have been all along!!!! Lots of luck, hedgey xxx
Yes, well done Paula from a fellow Natwest suer (that's suer not sewer)
