Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
After a long wait I finally decided to send Barclaycard a lba with a schedule of charges, some which i had estimated as they would not supply pre 2004 statements. I sent my LBA yesterday and guess what i have received the rest of the statements today.
Can i just start again with the correct charges or will i look really stupid ????
Is this your first request for a refund? You should really only send the lba 2 weeks after you've sent off an initial request.
If you are at the stage for an LBA then I would send them off another letter, clearly stating that this letter replaces the initial one you sent and that the 2 week time limit is reset to begin from the date of this letter.
Never estimate your charges. In the letter you already sent off, if you just said a lump sum estimate then I would word your next letter like "I refer to my previous letter where I estimated the charges to be blah blah, I can now confirm the total amount to be...... "
If you made the charges up (as in itemised them and made up the dates) then I'd just write to say there had been an error and you'd got their charges mixed up with another companys charges, and that you now enclose the corrected statement of charges.
