Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
After weeks of anxiously checking my letter box in anticipation each morning, a plain white envelope finally plopped onto my doormat yesterday. Could this be it? Surely not…you better believe it is. A juicylicious bankers draft for £968.42, the full amount of my claim. (I was down to my last tenner too…yeeess!)
Not that I doubted it really. A few of my friends and colleagues were sceptical but from the moment I discovered this amazing site I was spurred on with new found determination and confidence.
After absorbing all the info on this site I strode into my tiny little local branch on 22 March, intent on getting back what was rightfully mine. I made it very clear, to a very nervous assistant manager, that I knew what I wanted, the reasons I wanted and that I wasn’t going to be fobbed off or talked down too. At the time I had just £20 of my overdraft limit of £300 left available to me. With no food in the house, my car just about running on fumes and almost two weeks to my next pay day, I also knew that yet another £28 penalty charge was about to be deducted. By the end of an hour long discussion (during which the bank tried to get me to either take out a loan or to extend my mortgage) they’d realised they were on a hiding to nothing, the impending penalty charge had been waived and my overdraft limit was raised by £50 to help ‘tide me over’ (ah, how sweet of them).
Massive, massive thanks to CAG for empowering me with the knowledge to act and the true resolve that comes with knowing you have right on your side. The guys are tops and do an awesome job running the site. Together with the ever growing ‘family’ of helpful and supportive forum members CAG has become a true force to be reckoned with. I will be raising a glass to you all when I celebrate with friends this evening.
Just a few short months ago I would likely have doubted my chances of success as much as those who have scoffed at my efforts. Now, after feeling hopeless and helpless for so long, it’s an incredible feeling to take back some control from the Bank that has played a leading role in making life such a struggle. Like so many others, I’m spreading the word, loud and proud, at every opportunity.
I’m not stopping here though. With one victory under my belt I’ve now got two credit card companies to tackle and I’m sure I will enjoy taking them to task just as much.
I have read many desperately sad stories on this site, posted by people whose lives have been made intolerably difficult as a result of the actions of the banks. My own problems have seemed small in comparison but don’t give up hope, you’re not alone. It’s just a matter of time before you will be celebrating your own success stories. Good luck to everyone who is still working on claims against their own banks.
P.S. I have already completed the survey and just as soon as I get this luvlie dosh safely deposited I will most definitely be making a donation to help support the site.

Maria - it's guys (gals!) like you that have the guts to see it through that are the inspiration to the rest of us. Thanks for your encouraging update - I'll let you know how I get on with them.
Aw shucks Feux Verts, you’re makin' me blush Seriously, I'm just one of the myriad of ordinary people finally finding a voice with the help of CAG. The sweet scent of success is slowing but surely wafting over this site, like a drift of fragrant apple blossom carried on a spring breeze. *sigh*
Blimey, this winning thing seems to turning me into a right syrupy sop *wipes tear from eye* or just perhaps it’s more to do with the double vodkas I was happily necking earlier, hmm? Well it has been some time since I had cause to celebrate after all…hic!
I look forward to reading all about your own victory very soon FV.

I am currently going through the process, (having been charged HIDEOUS amounts of £38 charges), but i didnt read this website before I actually posted my first letter, which means it isnt full of legal jargon or anything, i just wrote that I had sought legal advice and I will take further legal action if the charges are not refunded...
someone PLEASE tell me that i didnt fail already with such a poor letter.
what is my next step?
i need someone to talk me through it.
cheers
