Don't let the bank take you to court.
YOU take the BANK to court for repayment of unlawful penalty charges, levied on your account.

Spend a few days reading the FAQs and the step by step guide in the library section. (See the link in my signature). That will give you an idea of the processes involved.

Phone the customer services department, explain what has happened and ask for them to remove the charges. (This is a two fold, one it might be the quickest way to settle, and secondly if it does, and i doubt it, goes to court you can say you tried to sort it out without the court actions)

If that doesn't work, then write to them and send a copy as well to the customer services in edinburgh, also ask for a break down of the charges (which they will not give you). See how that goes. If that doesn't work and they are still threatening court action, point out that the charges are unlawful and that if they take you to court they WILL have to give a Breakdown of the charges. Also get all your statemnets together, create a spreadsheet and relative word documents. Just in case. If you are at the letter sending stage you can have these handy for if they refuse to be fair.
