Hi,
I've recently bought a 4 year old car from a private sale for £3500. I was recently driving along, luckily only doing 30 miles an hour and the front wheel fell off, doing £1000 in damage.
Ford won't touch it as it's past 3 year warranty and the seller just says it's sold as seen.
Have I just got to grin and bear it and cough up the £1000 or is there anything I can do??
Cheers,
Rob
Sorry, you don't have any comeback with private sales with regard to the quality of the car. It's very much "caveat emptor" or buyer beware. The only thing that private sellers are liable for are any misdescriptions or false statements that they have made about the goods.
Manufacturers are only legally liable for any warranty that they give and any terms and conditions contained within that warranty - once this has gone, you can't pursue them at all.
Sorry it's bad news!
Please note I'm not insured in this capacity, so if you need to, do get official legal advice.
