Default Return flights - Only want to use the inbound leg...

Ok guys & gals... I need some help.

It may take a little to explain the background but bear with me...

I'm getting married on 24th June in Vegas... All arranged pretty quickly (not shotgun or anything like that !) just because we can't see the need to hang around !
Now, my brother is already going out to America on the 26th June. His tickets are of the non-transferable variety, which in itself is not a problem as he knew that at the time he booked them. However he wants to book seperate tickets to fly him to Vegas a couple of days before... And this is where the problem kicks in... If he doesn't take his original outbound flighticon he gets marked as a no-show and his inbound flight gets cancelled !
I can't believe that this can be correct, it certainly doesn't seem fair. Is there anything that can be done ?

I don't know the solution but I can confirm that this is what will happen.

What precise route and timing does he want to take?

Thanks (for nothing ) seminole ! Something about it just seems wrong... I mean I can to some extent understand if someone is clearly trying to use discounted returns to fly only one way but...

He needs to be in Vegas on 22/23 June then San Diego on 26 June and return home to London on 4th July...

Got a quote for whole new journey for about £520... (That's flying to Vegas via LA and then to San Diego via LA and home via NY ! Total of 6 flightsicon !)
