Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Having lurked for ages knowing ive been grossly over charged by Barclays I have finally taken the plunge and requested a list of charges. I'm in debt because of these charges and i get hot just thinking about it, I worry of course that they will just laugh and close my account and leave me in real queer street but ive done it instead of just saying im going to do it and search the board for some reason not to do it I have actually done ive taken the first bit of action
Right I have thought about it too too long AND ive just been slapped with another 30 quid charge so I have calculated all unlawful charges and sent my letter along with a copy of charges. being a bit a head of myself (having already wasted too much time thinking about it) I have just looked at the 8% interest bit in readiness for when I inevitably take them to court and have to admit to being a bit perplexed at the figure shows in excess of £500 my claim is for £2000 exactly how come interest is so much is it because it is calculating it back the whole six years and its not just a simple sum of 2000 x 8%? I think I have probably answered my own query here but will carry onposting in case I am wrong and also wanted to log that I have finally sent off the prelim letter demanding i mean asking nicely for MY MONEY
Ive received the usual "im sorry your not happy" letter if no reply by monday will send off lba
a quick question though thinking ahead to when Barclays dont offer me what is rightfully mine, do I need to know exactly what date I opened my account as I cant find any paper work moved a few times since "joining" I know it was approx 11 years ago but thats it, any suggestions gratefully received!

sorry ive bumped (if thats the right term) as would appreciate knowing.
Right to keep you updated and perhaps calm my nerves.....
I received an offer of 50% of claim, ive sent off my thanks I will have and im still going for rest on Friday (18th) giving them 14 days to repay in full or I will take them to court, now feeling very jittery as I know the next stage is they will withdraw the offer. I was very tempted to accept the offer with OH in one ear saying take it and DD (only 18yrs old and very wise) saying no dont you will only regret it.
I am sure my next stage is money claim when 14 days are up but not 100% sure!! I am assuming my letter above was actually the lba. As I said I am starting to get nervous (very) but one thing I know is I want what is mine!! can someone calm my quaking nerves........ pleeeeeaaaaaaaaase!
Hello, Balliol - can't offer any advise, but just to say, we're in the same boat and one stage behind you and feeling very jittery.
I guess it's what the banks hope for - basically we're all nice genuine people and we don't rip others off so find it hard going to stick up for our rights when it's done to us.
I keep trying to tell myself the banks would rather we stayed and paid off our overdrafts rather than doing a bunk - although it is very tempting to just up and run!
I'm only hoping they don't insist the money is all used up in paying off the overdrafts as we'd be up the swanee with it.
Good luck - it's the great thing about this place - you can see others going through the same angst but getting there in the end - so if they can do it, we must all be able if we stick at it.
