Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've finally decided to go ahead and claim back my charges from A&L. I've calculated from my statements that they owe me £1078.50 (I'm quite glad that I don't bin anything as it's saved me having to send a DPA letter).
I've read through all the advice on here so many times, but I'm still petrified of sending my request letter for repayment of charges.
I'm also a bit confused about the interest side of things, so please can somebody help me. When I entered the interest amounts onto the spreadsheet, it kept coming up with a zero amount on the last column. Is this because of the overdraft? If it is saying on the spreadsheet that there is zero interest do I just send the letter for repayment requesting the charges amounts and delete the part about interest?
Sorry if i'm making no sense, but I have read and re-read this site and I can't see anything about not claiming interest? :?
If anyone can offer me some advice I would be most grateful
hey there dont panic its all straight forward just take things one step at a time !
as far as the spreadsheet goes that depends on which spreadsheet your using ?
are you claiming Contractual (the interest the bank charges you)
or the statutory (court stage 8%)
if your claiming statutory you dont mention interest in your prelimary letter
link to the prelimary letter is here : http://www.consumeractiongroup.c o.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/671-2-letter-preliminary-approach.html
Thanks for the reply!! It's not the 8% interest it's the interest that the bank charges...the first spreadsheet in the advanced. When I've entered the interest amount and my balance at that time, then my overdraft facility, the 'interest on penalties' is staying at zero. Do I still need to fill that part in if the interest is zero anyway?? Or will the bank need to see that I have tried to calculate it?
oh right i aint too clued up on them spreadsheets sorry all that contractual stuff totally did my head in !
maybe you could try the person who made them ?
