    Default Debt collection agency

Last year we finally managed to buy the house which we had been renting for 9 years
At the last minute the Lanlord refused to give us back our Thousand pound deposit which we paid to him way back in 1997, we were told at the time that we could also claim interesticon, but said to the landlord just give back the deposit and we will be happy to knock it off the final mortgageicon settlement
We were advised to let the mortgageicon go through and sue him at a later date
Our solicitor at the time was useless, in fact despite him we managed to buy the house and he never did pursue our deposit, despite promising to do so at the time
We were so busy at the time that we took on a debt collectionicon agency to pursue a claim from the Landlord of £1600 including interest and paid them £250 to do so, they reassured us that whatever happened we would get back our fee
We have since then found out that this Debt collection company folds every couple of years and simply commences trading under a different name in the same premises, we do not know if they got back our £1600
We informed the police and they were not interested, even though we found newspaper articles afterwards warning about trading with this company
The managing director signed a false name on our agreement, which we pointed out was fraud, yet this company are still out there fleecing people
As they are now officially bankrupt we do not know if we have a claim against them
    So please be aware of
Global Collections Ltd, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xx
We contacted the business next door to them who said that they had tried to do the same thing to them with a debt, which of course was ridiculous as they closed under one name and reopened the next day under another, even though the same people are there in the office!
We have reported them to Watchdog but not yet had a reply
We now do not even know if they got our deposit or if we can still recover it They have change their telephone number and probably even their name by now
I do hope that everyone will think twice before using a debt collection agency an not get ripped off as we have been

    Edited your thread.

Please be aware that statements like that could harm our site.

If you want to name the company you had a problem with, then that's fine (subject to the way they are referred to) but to suggest any company operating from that address may also be 'rogue' is not acceptable.

I do appreciate that your thread is meant to help others beware, but my first concern is the integrity of this site.
