Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am claiming against Bank of Scotland with whom I had an overdraft of £600 which they kept piling charges onto when I was between jobs. Once I commenced employment I made two large payments in quick succession to reduce the debt below my overdraft limit. Then they withdrew my overdraft and later passed my debt to a debt collection agency.
I had a letter from the Regal Credit Consultants agency looking for £1,048.11,:o which I have now addressed by sending them a letter saying the original debt is in dispute.
I am now in ill health and cannot work at this time but would like to get it all sorted out.
I also have debt with Capital One who also sold my debt to a debt collect agency, my credit limit was £200 but the agency want £531.15. :o Again I have written to them and said the original debt is in dispute.
Due to my low income at this time the sums they are looking for are just plain laughable and I have no assets.
In the next few weeks I will be writing and asking for details of my charges to both RBS and Capital One.
Go for it.
There are plenty of folks on here who have been through it before and will be willing to give you a hand.
I would say though that the sooner you get the ball rolling, asking for the details of charges applied to your accounts in the last 5 years, the better.
I would say you have to get this done as soon as possible and should be a top priority.
In your situation, the next few weeks is too long too wait.
