    Default gimme my money!!!!

Hi, finally received copy statements from barclaycard (about 4 weeks over the 40 day legal limit) and sent off leter requesting payment of £745. Any idea what barclaycard are like? do they pay up or leave it till it goes to court? At the moment i've taken Natwesticon to court for £1349 and they have just entered a defence so having lots of fun with them...NOT!!
I was hoping barclaycard might make things a little easier as its only £745!! Any info much appreciated x

No, Barclaycard for £660, sent a letter to Nat West yesterday for a little one (£114) and am still waiting for statements to come through from Abbeyicon Current account and MBNAicon credit card.
Its nice to have someone claiming a similar amount from the same company isn't it? We should stay in touch.

Are you asking for interesticon? 8% or the other?

hello all, quick update, sent off letter to barclaycard on 2nd april and got refund of £234 two days later, however i'm trying to reclaim £745 (including 8% interesticon). After reading another thread i'm a bit concerned, should I have claimed more interest as this is a credit card not a bank account? Anyway i have written back to barclaycard and told them that I want the rest within 7 days, then i read on money saving expert that becuase the charges on a credit card are only £12 i should probably settle for what they have offered me???????? i am now a little confused, any advice welcome x

I would be careful with anything you read on moneysavingexpert regarding bank charges. I began my claim after reading that site and since have had to revise it several times as the info on here is far more complete. I have found out that I can claim for about 10 times as much money from my bank as the information on the MSE site led me to believe.
As far as barclaycard is concerned, you may claim for the amount of the charges, plus any interesticon you paid on those charges (For example, if your card balance was always above the amount of the total charges since you were charged, then you have been paying full card interest on them and can claim that back).
On top of all this you can claim contractual interest at their unauthorised borrowing rate (for most places this is about 30% compound). I'm not sure if bcard have a separate unauthorised rate, but if not then you can claim at the rate of your card.
All this could total to several times more than the original charges.
Of course if you claim all this they may put up a harder fight and it may take longer to settle.

Hi, after having a partial refund of £236 (full claim was £749) i wrote to barclaycard to tell them that i would not accept this as full settlement and requested that the refunded me the full amount in 7 days or i would file court proceedings. Got a letter through from barclaycard today saying they are not prepared to consider my request for any futher refund. All the charges on my barclaycard were only £12 a charge, never more than £12, i just wanted to check if i am actually entittled to reclaim this money as its not like they were charging me £30 a time like other banks? just wanted to check as i think i'm going to have to file court proceedings now

Hi, no they're not entitled to charge you £12. If they do then they must be able to prove that your misdeeds cost them £12 each. They won't be proving that! Unless they can show that it cost them a certain amount (which would be maybe £1 in reality) then they have to refund it all. As they won't admit that it costs them less than £12, they won't be willing to give you the real figure so you are entitled to a full refund.
They simply chose the £12 number because it was made illegal for them to attempt to charge any more than that.

    Lolly
The same has happend to me, I have a claim totalling £875, inc 24.9 interesticon. Today my statement came through from Barclaycard and I found out that last week I had £288 paid in to my account, refund of charges. I think this may be typical for Barclaycard to do this. I do however intend to continue the full claim, minus the £288, for which I shall thank them for and tell them I happily accept it as a part payment, not full settlement.

Good luck and keep us posted
