I am yet to make the Initial move for a claim against Barclays since I have been busy chasing Natwest - who have rather caved in and made an offer of payment today
Anyway, before I begin, my Barclays claim thread is ...........
I received a letter today from a debt management company about a Barclays overdraft debt of £160 that I left unpaid when I closed my a/c sometime in 2002. From my initial look at my old Barclays statements, I have so far calculated charges totaling over £600, am yet to ask for my statements because I closed the a/c in 2002.
My questions are:-
If at all I start a claim with Barclays, can It stop the debt company pestering me since I can always say the original debt is in dispute
Has anyone been successful after claiming outside the statute of limitations ... with Barclays
Thanks good people, any comments and suggestions will be highly appreciated

Reply questioning why it has taken this long for action to be processed, Question the debt, telling them to prove the outstanding amount, this will stall them.

even though the account is closed you can still send in your SAR, but will only be able to go back 6 years from the date of request, it has been taken back further but theres a lot more involved, it depends if youre that determined.

Inform the DCA that the account is in dispute and you will deal with it once your issues have been resolved
