Default on my way i think!

    hi all
ive recentley got my statements from a&l and concluded that they have charged me £2264.50 in debit charges and unothorised overdrafticon fees also i calculated £230.82 in statutory intrest a total of £2264.50
i sent them a letter asking for a refund including the intrest that would be awarded when i win in court.
today i rec a letter stating that the oft have only delt with credit card charges and that the charges added to my current account are fair.
they say that they will keep my file open for 8 weeks.

right so i know that this is the normal fob off letter but im unsure of the next step.i live in scotland and the small claims max is £750,can i claim through an english courts(max 5000) as the banks head office is in bootle??
also i have read that i can contact the oft customer services and theres a possability that they will tell the bank to refund the asked amount.

any ideas on my best route of action?
    cheers in advance

It's my belief that you CAN make your claim thru English courts, citing the NARBOROUGH address as this is where their head office is situated.

Not sure where you've heard that the OFT will help. Not reliable info, IMO. 8)

Must admit I get a bit confused with all the initials. I think (?) OFT is Office of Fair Trading; fosicon - Financial Ombudsman Service; and FSA - Financial Services Authority (but I wouldn't like to bet that I've got any of them totally correct!).

Having said that, I'm still not sure any of them can really help you get your money back. If they could, everyone would be using them instead of going through the hassle of court. Best of luck though, as we all have to do what we think is best for us. And any mischief you can cause A&L in the process is worth the effort, hey?
