Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Send DPA Request off waiting for reply, i had a scan through about 10 months of statements and i got £980 in charges. just hope they dont get funny with me.
I dont know if youve read through some of the previous cases but expect them to leave it to last minute to reply. Please keep the log upto date to help others making claims etc. Then we can all compare and see what the banks are doing.

thanks john will do. I've sent off DPA requests with cheques to Amex and Morgan Stanley, also waiting for Egg to get back to me. I'm hoping alll my charges will clear my overdraft and some of me cards so i can get on with enjoing life instead of having to penny pinch to keep my overdraft in it's limits
Ive just had a reply from Abbey saying they will refund all my charges so- take note:
Every single time they left it until the last minute to reply. So annoying when you just want the money back! Expect the same with Barclays.
I've got a claim underway with Barclays & Barclaycard. - Will be interesting to see how they act compared with Abbey.

yeah i sent DPA requests to Barclaycard too, I hope there not gonna drag it on forever. how long did it take for you to get your reply letter with the ammounts on?
For my Abbey account i had kept all the statements so they just waited the full 14 days before replying to send me their standard letter... our charges are fair blah blah blah.
I sent my DPA request off to Barclays and Barclaycard on the 21st. They have 40 days from that date. When did you send yours?

not got anything back from Barclays so yesterday i went into my local branch and calmly asked for 6 years worth of statements, the cashier looked at me and smiled . She said that it wasn't a funny request as i was the second person to ask for that. I explained that i felt let down that they havent even acknowlaged my letter so she said the quickest way to get it sorted is to lodge a compaint so i did. She tootled off round the corner and came back with a print out with a refrence and the usual template "sorry you've felt it nessisary to complain" letter.
She said if it's one thing barclays are good at it's their complaints dept lol.
Well am basically doing everything for my mother. Ive typed the prelim letter which should arrive on her doorstep tomorrow ready to sign and issue to the bank. She had all the statements from the DPA request and they sent the £10.00 cheque back.
Ok so far. i hope they refuse the refund because then she can claim over £100 worth of interest.

WOW Complaining to customer services really speeds things up and i got all my copy statments free got 3 huge envelopes on sat morning!! going to trawl through them now to see whats what.
I'd taken a pic of the envelopes tho as they were all in poor condition a couple looked like they'fd been opened and selotaped back
worked out off microfiche printouts £1200 in charges and fees. however i'm not sure that all the things are on there is anyone else feeling that there not showing somethings or if they are there not clearly marked on the printouts? theres nothing else that i should be looking for in the printouts??
having lived in my o/d due to charges, O/D interest £25 min a month, My life has been to be blunt Cr@p having no saving and now being 24 I wonder if i could claim anything to make up for this so i can start enjoying my life, start saving as for the past three years at least, all i have been doing is working and sleeping
Thanks guys i know it's daft but i just wanted to see if you thought this was unreasonable of me.
My microfiche copies seemed to be fairly complete; lots of 'unpaid outs' and 'paid referrals'. I don't think they would dare to falsify the statements by omitting any charges. Send in your request for payment letter and see what they say. It will be interesting to see if you get the same reply that I did, saying that they would answer no later than 31st May despite the fact I gave them 14 days from the 2nd May.
