Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have been helping my brother claim his bank charges back and we are in court next Monday. Obviously the closer the date gets the more worried we are getting that we may actually have to go!
I've read that others have contacted the banks shortly before the claim dates and agreed settlements - is this something which is worth doing?
I suppose what I really want to know is how likely is it that we'll actually have to attend and if so, what can we do to prepare? The other thing I'm slightly concerned about is that we'll be expected to recite chapter and verse the relevant bits from the court bundle. I have a basic understanding, but I'm no legal expert!
Have you complied with the directions, I.e. submitted your bundle, etc? If you have then you should probably receive an offer of settlement very soon. Prepare for court though and have a read of these threads, if you haven't already - http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...uidance-notes/

Thanks for the reply. We have complied with the process right through to sending the court bundle. But I can't help but get a little bit nervous that they've spotted something and we'll lose on a technicality!
