Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights

Sent out first letter Recorded Delivery to Barclays yetserday along with £10.00 cheque. They have recieved it this morning so just gonna sit back and relax while i wait for Barclays to respond.
But don't sit back and relax. Use the time to read, read, read and learn. This way, by the time you get your statements, you'll know which charges you can reclaim, which ones you can't. And you'll know which letter to send first, then second. And then you'll not be panicking when they make you a paltry offer. Or when you file at court. Because knowledge truly is power here.
So use the time wisely, and learn. It will be the best time investment that you could get.
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
Yeah thanks bookworm, am on here reading everyday looking out for new tips n tricks.
Anyway Recieved response from Andrew M Miskell at the privacy and data protection department dated 27th March

Glad i got a quick response hopefully it was down to the CAG Headed paper i made up using the sites logo
Well still not recieved any statements from Barclays. Took a reminder letter into the branch on the 30th day with copies of the original letters and proof of deliver, took spare set aswell for them to sign and stamp. Time will be up on tuesday not going to hold my breath on recieving them on time though. All this waiting is a pain in the ass though. Funny thing is Barclays have already told me i'll get my money back just not for 6 months lol. They sure know how to drag every last day they possibly can out of this to delay paying up.
Phoned up Barclays customer support on 0800282390 as didn't recieve statements today, the bloke who answered said there was no record of me requesting them, so phoned Data Protection team who he said also didn't have a record of the request. Funny that as they sent me a reply to say they had 5 days after the original letter i sent them (recorded) Pointed this out to the bloke. Anyway the bloke said he would have them printed off today and i'll recieve them no later than Wednesday. Makes you laugh at just how quick they can really do it. I only opened my account on 17th July 2000 so no microfiche issues. Well just have to wait and see if they come on Wednesday now like he said.
Yeah, statements came yesterday along with a letter thanking me for my continued business with them, added up the charges and they come to £955.00. So preparing prelim letter and speadsheet ready to post tomorrow. Judging by the length of time it takes others should get a nice cheque all going well around October/November, ideal for the christmas prezzies for my little un
Prelim was sent off, recieved response today, usual standard reply of will look into it within 4 weeks and have a definate outcome within 8 weeks. Will wait till the 14 days is up then send the lba
Barclays have now written back, and i must admit to being quite shocked that the offer is so high, am claiming for 955.00 and they have offered 715 it is still a bit short but seriously worth considering gonna take a few days to decide whether or not to accept.
the choice is yours at the end of the day skunk but remember the extra £240 belongs to you as well, oh and the interest you'll add to that
28/2/07 Sent request for repayment of charges totalling £2,800 (I want it ALL back!). 8/3/07 Barclays send sorry your not happy letter 14/3/07 Letter before action sent 25/4/07 Barclays offer £1,790 27/4/07 Thanks but no thanks to the offer sent 28/4/07 Filed with mcol, now looking at a figure of £3,500, they should of paid up when i asked nicely 11/5/07 Barclays acknowledge claim 30/5/07 Barclays defend claim 19/6/07 Received notice of transfer to Northampton County Court and barclays excuse for a defence!!!
well had filed and Barclays acknowledged and filed a defence, with the defence barclays sent me a letter saying that they will honor all offers of Full and final settlement for a further two months from date of letter, have gone over all my charges againand with the probabability of a stay decided to accept the £715.00 offer as if the courts decide in a yr or 2 that £5.00 is a fair charge i'd get less than £715.00 back even with the interest. Emailed them 2 days before due to return allocation questionairre to say that i wanted my money that day and it was in 20 minutes later.
All is not lost though still got credit card and catalogues to deal with now and i'm really trying to push for everything with those as no cca, so gonna attempt to get back all charges and all interest and default notices removed.
